Our special fundraising lottery, which launched almost 25 years ago, has recently been revamped, meaning an increased prize pot for local people to potentially get their hands on.


The St Ann’s lottery is such an easy way for people to show their support for the patients we care for, with the added bonus that they might win thousands of pounds too.
The recent changes mean that, in addition to our weekly jackpot of £2,000, we are also now offering a rollover prize of £1,000 a week, up to a maximum of £10,000, and other weekly prizes of £50 for four winners, and £10 for 30 winners too.
People can buy tickets online at www.sah.org.uk/lottery or in one of our hospice shops across Greater Manchester, so it’s really easy for people to take part. As a charity we rely on the support of local people now more than ever, so we’d love as many new players as possible to join in.
One of the best parts of our job is calling the lucky winners each week to let them know a cheque is on the way. They’re always so excited, and it’s so heart-warming to be able to share the news with them. They always let us know how pleased they are to have been able to support the hospice as well, which is why the lottery is here after all. If local people are able to join, we’d appreciate their support so much.

Gerard’s Lottery win

Gerard, who has lived in Heald Green for the past 50 year, got a great surprise when he opened the envelope to discover that he had won the jackpot in our Hospice Lottery.

Gerard has been a supporter of St Ann’s for a long time now and he regularly donates goods to be sold in our charity shops.


I could not believe it. I have been in the lottery over 25 years, had a couple of small wins but this is great. Our two grandchildren have just started University so the money will be used to help them with their lodging fees.

Our team has also revamped the prize structure of the weekly lottery, meaning an increased prize pot for local people to potentially get their hands on.

So, in addition to our weekly jackpot of £2,000, we are also now offering a rollover prize of £1,000 a week, up to a maximum of £10,000, and other weekly prizes of £50 for four winners, and £10 for 30 winners too!

Our Lottery has had a revamp!

We’ve announced that, for the first time since our lottery launched almost 25 years ago, supporters are able to purchase tickets in any of our fourteen shops around Greater Manchester. Our team has also revamped the prize structure of the weekly lottery, meaning an increased prize pot for local people to potentially get their hands on.


The St Ann’s Local Lottery is one of the easiest ways people can show their support for our patients, with the added bonus that they might win a very special prize.
We’re really excited to announce the new changes to the lottery which mean that in addition to our weekly jackpot of £2,000, we are also now offering a rollover prize of £1,000 a week, up to a maximum of £10,000, and other weekly prizes of £50 for four winners, and £10 for 30 winners too.
We’ve also made it even easier for our supporters to purchase tickets. They can now simply pop into one of the hospice’s 14 shops around Greater Manchester to buy their weekly £2 ticket, in addition to being able to sign up online at www.sah.org.uk/lottery. The changes all hopefully mean it’s incredibly simple for local people to take part, and we’d love as many new players as possible to join in.
It really is an easy way to support the hospice, and with lots of prizes to be won, there’s even more chance of winning. We can’t wait to see who our first lucky winners will be of this newly revamped lottery. We’re all really excited!

Sandra’s Lottery win

One of our shop volunteers, Sandra, has been playing the lottery since it started in 1994. Then a couple of years ago, Sandra and her husband won the top prize of £2,000! They used their winnings on a river cruise from Prague to Budapest and had a great time. Sandra volunteers at our Romiley shop and has done now for 11 years now.


I really love volunteering for St Ann’s and working with everyone at the shop.


Sandra and her husband still carry on playing the lottery and hopefully will have a big win again sometime soon!

Win big on the St Ann’s Hospice lottery

Have you ever dreamt about winning the lottery? Do you want to be in with the chance of bagging a £2,000 jackpot each week while helping to support our patients?

The St Ann’s lottery, which includes a weekly draw, costs just £1 for a ticket with proceeds helping to ensure we can continue to provide world class care in the future.


As St Ann’s is a charity and we only receive about a third of our funding from the NHS, we rely on initiatives such as the hospice lottery to ensure we can continue to provide care to our patients and their families.



It’s incredibly easy to join, and players can sign up for just four weeks, or if they prefer to play regularly, can set up a Direct Debit payment. It means they don’t need to worry about sending us their £1 each week, and are automatically entered into the weekly draw.

The lottery is drawn at the hospice each Friday, with one lucky winner receiving the jackpot of £2,000, a second prize winner receiving £200 and ten runners up each getting their hands on a £30 prize.


Working at the hospice I see every day the real difference that support from initiatives like our St Ann’s Local Lottery make to the lives of our patients. Many come to us at an incredibly vulnerable time in their lives, and we simply couldn’t continue to provide our specialist care without the support of local people.

Lottery winner donates prize back to the hospice

A kind-hearted man from Heald Green who won the top prize in our hospice lottery has donated all the money back to St Ann’s.

Douglas Appleton, has been playing our Local Lottery for 22 years and has had a few small wins previously before winning the top prize of £2,000.

Mr Appleton has supported St Ann’s for 35 years since his wife, Joan, passed away there in 1983.

He also volunteered for 15 years with the hospice as a day care driver and on the reception and received a certificate for his long service.

I was surprised to found out I won but I knew straight away that I wanted to donate the money back to St Ann’s, as I know how much they depend on the donations to help care for patients.

The St Ann’s Local Lottery has been running for more than two decades. Each week, winners of the lottery receive prizes worth £2,500, and our main jackpot each Friday is £2000.

We’ve launched a new range of wedding favours giving guests the chance to win

Weddings are happy occasions, creating long-lasting memories as two people and their loved ones are joined together on one of the most important days of their life.

With wedding season fast approaching, we’re appealing to brides and grooms to consider making an additional long-lasting gift on their big day which will help them create special memories for local people too.

We have launched a new range of wedding and party favours, each containing a special ticket offering each guest the chance to win up to £2000 in the charity’s fundraising lottery.

Trudi Ogden, lottery manager, explained:  “The St Ann’s Local Lottery has been running for more than two decades, and we’re really excited that our newly designed favours offer a unique way for brides and grooms or party hosts to treat their guests.  Most importantly, the money paid for the favours makes a real difference to the lives of the local patients the hospice cares for.

“The favours cost just £1.50 each, and come in a range of classic designs.  Each has a unique lottery number included, which is then entered into one of our weekly St Ann’s Local Lottery draws.

“Each week, winners of the lottery receive prizes worth £2,500, and our main jackpot each Friday is £2000. So, by purchasing tickets in the form of our wedding or party favours, not only do local patients and their families definitely win, you never know, one of your guests might win too!”

We also have our own specialist wedding shop on the High Street in Cheadle, complete with a range of new, pre-loved and vintage wedding and bridesmaid dresses, as well as hats, shoes and other accessories.
