Job Summary

An exciting internal physiotherapist development opportunity has arisen in the Rehabilitation Team as part of succession planning and development of the workforce within Clinical Services.

We’re continuously developing our plans for delivering world-class, innovative care and to ensure St Ann’s is in the best shape possible for future generations.

Band 6

  • The physiotherapist will be a key member of the multidisciplinary team; they will be a role model for clinical staff, demonstrating a professional and proactive approach to providing rehabilitative advice and support to patients with life limiting illnesses.
  • The physiotherapist will work with rehabilitation team colleagues to deliver a physiotherapy service at the Little Hulton Site. They will need to be able to prioritise and work efficiently to ensure the complex needs of in patients and outpatients are met in a timely manner.
  • The physiotherapist will actively participate in developing cross site physiotherapy services at the hospice.
  • The physiotherapist will be aware of and deliver services in line with best practice guidelines and the requirements of the care quality commission in order to ensure the aims and objectives of the organisation are met.

Band 7

  • The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the effective delivery of physiotherapy services to inpatients and outpatients at the hospice.
  • The postholder will carry out clinical duties in accordance with hospice policies, procedures and standards.
  • The post holder must act in accordance with professional Codes of Conduct at all times and will contribute and work collaboratively with the wider MDT in line with the clinical and hospice strategy, values and business objectives.
  • The post holder will deliver specialist clinical services as a Physiotherapist.
  • St Ann’s delivers a service across two sites and the post holder will complete physiotherapy interventions at both sites. There will therefore be occasions where you are required to travel and provide cross-site cover.

Job summary

St Ann’s Hospice is growing! We’re currently in the process of building a brand-new hospice in Heald Green, and we’re looking for someone to join the Education and Development Team as a Clinical Educator, to support and nurture our staff to deliver the best possible care for our patients.

The Role

You will be a role model for excellence in palliative care, working with staff in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new and essential skills and knowledge, to enable their personal and professional development and organisational objectives.

  • Maintain professional registration and practice within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Plan, organise, deliver and evaluate training and education programmes for multi-professional and multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Deliver clinical education and work-based programmes that relate to quality patient care, e.g. 3-day Palliative Care Course. Teaching and supporting professionals in clinical settings and formal assessment of supervised practice.
  • Prepare and deliver training to clinical staff and proactively identify ongoing educational needs
  • Manage the LMS system, and maintain clinical training registers
  • Work collaboratively to develop staff clinical competencies
  • Keep up to date with any local, regional or national policies/priorities.
  • Support Students who attend St Ann’s Hospice for clinical placements.
  • Develop and maintain highly effective communication networks in the GM to better represent the Education and Development team at a range of appropriate multi-professional meetings internally and externally.

The Person

  • First level Registered Nurse qualification with current registration with NMC or an Allied Health professional qualification with current professional registration.
  • Relevant professional degree (or equivalent) and evidence of continuing professional development in palliative care.
  • Experience of teaching or mentoring practice and/ or theory in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to travel independently as some cross-site and local travel will be necessary.
  • Manage their time effectively to ensure balance between clinical education and administrative responsibilities.

The Role

As a Complementary Therapist, you will:

  • Assess and Advise: Evaluate patients with complex needs, provide expert advice and develop personalised therapy plans.
  • Tailor Treatments: Adapt therapies to meet individual patient needs
  • Collaborate: Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure patients’ needs are met.
  • Manage Referrals: Oversee the referral process to the complementary therapy service, ensuring appropriate allocation in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Handle Caseloads: Manage the complementary therapy caseload with colleagues, ensuring timely patient reviews and treatments.
  • Train and Educate: Organise, deliver, and evaluate training related to complementary therapy at the hospice to internal and external colleagues.
  • Supervise Volunteers: Provide support and supervision to volunteer therapists, ensuring safe and effective patient care.

The Person

  • Are you a qualified therapist passionate about delivering holistic care? We are looking for a skilled Complementary Therapist to join our dedicated team and enhance the well-being of our patients and carers/families.
  • Can you demonstrate the ability to use various strategies to provide skilled, compassionate, individualised therapies to patients and their carers/families?
  • Are you able to demonstrate the importance of complementary therapy in palliative care?
  • As our ideal candidate, you will be qualified to safely and competently deliver complementary therapies including Reflexology, Indian Head Massage/Massage, and Aromatherapy. You should hold recognised certifications from relevant bodies such as the Aromatherapy Regulation Working Group (e.g., IFPA, ITEC), The Reflexology Forum (e.g., AOR, BRA), and The British Association of Massage Therapy, as well as Reiki 1st and 2nd degrees. If you are not already certified in Reiki Level 2, you must be willing to achieve this within your first year of employment.
  • The role demands the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, effectively managing time and cross-site caseloads.
  • You will need to be able to independently travel between our two hospice sites.
